The EP moves through feelings of anxiety, melancholy, sadness, frustration - yet is sprinkled with ethereal breaks and moments of euphoria. I wanted to make people feel something when listening to the music - so much of what's released these days seems vapid to me. Yes, you can dance to it, but what is it trying to achieve beyond that? The title of the EP was actually taken from the song 'Deity' by Screaming For Emily. "The Fear You Give To Me" really resonated within - to me, the idea is about this sense of feeling lost and ungrounded in this world. The fear that everyone faces as they navigate through life, trying to create a sense of identity, trying to find a place where they can be secure.The two vocalists on the EP - Lees Brenson and Ariana Molly - are very near and dear to my heart, making the collaboration very natural. When recording, we ran the microphone through an old guitar amp to give a harsh overdrive to their voice. Giving the vocals a raw texture is important to their message - the distortion intertwines with the emotion to situate the feelings of frustration, anger and insecurity.Miley Serious and I have been internet friends for a while now. We both weave through the worlds that balance Techno and Post-punk, so the friendship has naturally formed. As a DJ, and as an individual, Aurore has been a huge inspiration to me - so to work together on this EP has been nothing but a dream.
